Mararing (Xanthophyllum amoenum) is a fruit-bearing tree that grows 35 m tall. The species produces round fruit with a yellow and green shell that is easily opened with bare hands. The inside contains several seeds covered in white pulp that is sweet and soft, with taste notes reminiscent of longan and star apple.
The fruit is harvested from the wild, serving as a local source of income for natives in southern Palawan.
It has no record in Co’s Digital Flora. However, Stuartxchange has a record of the fruit and it is said to be a possible native of the Philippines.
